It’s time for the small print to be in OUR favor!
Danny for Pierce County Charter Review Commission
Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to visit my site and learn a little more about me and how I aim to serve you on the commission. As much as we might like to, we can’t be there every time that one of our public servants (at least, that’s what they’re supposed to be) makes a decision that affects us and those we care about. We usually have other things that need our attention or that we would rather be doing. However, one thing we CAN do is set the rules! That way, our politicians have to do what is in the best interest of the public at all times.
The sad fact is that, most of the time, charters and other governing documents are loaded with back doors and loopholes that allow those in charge to make important decisions without our say-so. This is wrong. It’s time to erase the loopholes, close the back doors, and put the fine print in our favor.
So what do I mean by this? Well, my goal is to strike the right balance of making sure our politicians are empowered to get things done, while also making sure that power does not go unchecked. We don’t want them on a leash, but we do want to make sure they don’t go out of bounds. Careful structuring of the wording of the charter and insertion of citizen authority is how we do this.
A little about me: I’ve been a writer all my life. I have undergraduate degrees in English and Philosophy and graduate degrees in Health Administration and Film Production. Whether it’s contracts, by-laws, or scripts, I’m always writing, always examining, and I know that every word counts. I want to bring this focus and dedication to the commission. I humbly ask for your vote and I urge you to reach out to me. I’d love to talk. Thank you.
